Hi Linguaponearners, I bring you a special blog edition. There is important but exciting news to share with you all.

Announcement

A 1-year milestone since the start of Linguapon's development is creeping up. Linguapon Beta has been open to the public for nearly 6 months. Here are some statistics:

  • 65 sign-ups
  • 52 Linguapon characters rewarded
  • 41 community collection vocabulary lists
  • 13 supported languages

With that, I'm pleased to say that Linguapon launches on Sunday, 1st June 2025, subsequently concluding Linguapon's Beta Program! All data on your existing progress in Linguapon Beta will be kept. So nothing will drastically change! What can we expect to happen after launch, then?

  • Linguapon will not stop development. Referring to the roadmap, I have upcoming features planned, such as the expansion of Test Me and the expansion of Explore. These two features promise to offer many more possibilities within Linguapon.
  • Content will continue to be added, such as community collections and additional Linguapon character rewards.
  • Introducing Linguapon Premium - which vows to be the most affordable language learning platform subscription service out there. It offers greater convenience within Linguapon, full access to a growing roster of Linguapon characters to collect, and early access to new features.

Check-up

I started this project as I mean to continue - with the challenges I first discussed in the original blog post continuing to drive Linguapon's goals:

Challenge 1: The Textbook Problem

I described this problem as having two distinct parts: textbooks lacking content for deeper contextual insights and textbooks not personalizing content to the user's learning profile.

Linguapon solves the former issue by utilizing the latest state-of-the-art LLMs to provide content that fills gaps in knowledge and material. Throughout beta, I have continued prioritizing quality, cutting down and wrestling between different LLM services to yield content I found most useful.

The latter issue has been addressed through the addition of new features developed during beta; each of these features helps ensure the experience of each user remains unique to them:

  • User-learned vocabulary goals
  • Vocabulary knowledge system
  • Personalizing the complexity of sentences

Challenge 2: Boredom

As the community grows, users may want to spend more time on the platform. During beta, I learned that shorter sessions, with the goal of reviewing and learning several words and one or two sentences a day, are a very practical way of using Linguapon, speaking from my anecdotal experience. I enjoy tuning into the platform, revisiting previously saved words while reviewing new ones, and ticking them off as 'learned' in Test Me.

Outside of learning, character collection rewards, goals, and progress tracking are the existing ways to incentivize me to spend more time. But I think more can be done. More features can be made to stand out from other platforms and improve engagement, which will certainly be possible as the platform continues to grow.

Challenge 3: Community

The community is now an essential pillar of Linguapon's future success. Firstly, community collections are shareable vocabulary lists that will involve more community contributions in the future. Imagine a pool of vocabulary lists, shared by tutors and dedicated contributors, where users can save words and instantly see word usage - all in one place.

All new features going forward will focus on building community-first, enriching experiences. I truly believe this is where Linguapon can grow, so watch this space!

On that note...

When I started building Linguapon, I had the vision of making it accessible and useful. Revenue has never been the main goal for Linguapon. What matters most is whether learners are genuinely progressing toward their goals. That's the core value guiding everything I build. If it gets me one step closer to my goal of freely expressing myself in my target language, then Linguapon is doing what it was designed to do.

And if it can do that for me, I believe someone else will feel the same. I envision bringing our community of language learners together to achieve our goals, together.

To everyone who has helped Linguapon grow to this point, to those who follow Linguapon's updates, to all Linguapon users - thank you, Linguaponearners. Here's to another 6 months!
